  1. 1.      Make sure the device you are pairing with is in discoverable mode.

 

Note: Refer to the guide that came with the device for details.

 

  1. 2.      Press Menu > Settings > Wireless controls > Bluetooth settings.
  2. 3.      Touch Bluetooth to turn on and scan. If Bluetooth power is already on, touch Scan for devices.
  3. 4.      Touch a device to connect.
  4. 5.      If necessary, touch OK, or enter the device passkey (like 0000) to connect to the device. When the device is connected, the Bluetooth indicator appears in the status bar.
Wi-Fi
  1. 1.      Press Menu > Settings > Wireless controls > Wi-Fi settings.
  2. 2.      Touch Wi-Fi to turn on and scan. If Wi-Fi is already on, press Menu > Scan. Your phone lists the networks it finds within range.

 

Tip: To see your phone’s MAC address or other Wi-Fi details, press Menu > Advanced.

 

  1. 3.      Touch a network to connect.
  2. 4.      If necessary, enter Network SSID, Security, and Wireless password, and touch Connect. When your phone is connected to the network, the wireless indicator appears in the status bar.
Restore to Factory Default Settings Option 1:

 

Go to Settings > Privacy > Factory Data Reset. Click on Reset phone. To confirm, click on Erase Everything.

 

Option 2:

 

  1. 1.      Turn device off. Then press and hold the Power key until you feel your smartphone vibrate and/or you see the Acer logo screen.
  2. 2.      Press and hold the volume up and volume down buttons.
  3. 3.      Use the volume up button to select clean boot: Yes.
  4. 4.      Press the camera button to confirm.

  1. 1.      Plug the USB sync cable into the micro USB connector on your smartphone.
  2. 2.      Plug the USB client connector into an available USB port on your computer.
  3. 3.      Tap the USB icon in the notification bar and next to “Mobile network sharing”, tap On.
  4. 4.      Alternatively, you can tap Menu > Settings > Wireless and network settings > Tethering and portable hotspot and then tap USB tethering.

Bluetooth on your device operates in three different modes:

 

  1. 2.      On – Bluetooth is turned on. Your device can detect other Bluetooth-enabled devices, but not vice versa
  2. 3.      Discoverable (Visible) – Bluetooth is turned on, and all other Bluetooth-enabled devices can detect your device, Your phone will be discoverable for up to two minutes
  3. 4.      Off – Bluetooth is turned off. In this mode, you can neither send nor receive information using Bluetooth
  4. 5.      To turn on Bluetooth and make the device discoverable:

  3. 3.      Touch Wi-Fi settings. The network names and security settings (Open network or Secured with WEP) of detected Wi-Fi networks are displayed in the Wi-Fi networks section.
  4. 4.      Touch a Wi-Fi network to connect. When you selected an open network, you will be automatically connected to the network. If you selected a network that is secured with WEP, enter the WEP (security) key and then touch Connect.
Restore to Factory Default Settings Option 1:

Menu > Settings >  Select SD card & Phone Storage > Select Factory Data Reset > Select Reset Phone > Select Erase Everything

The device will dump all of the data and reload

Option 2: Key stroke method (faster method):

  1. 1.      Power the device off. Press the Home Key and the Power button until the device vibrates, the Rogers Logo Flashes, you will then have a screen with a Warning Triangle on it.
  2. 2.      Press the Home and Power buttons again.
  3. 3.      Once you get the System Recovery screen, select “wipe data/factory reset”
  4. 4.      After you get the data wipe completion message, select “Reboot System”

Key Stroke Method 2.1 Android:

 

  1. 1.      Hold Home and Back. Press the Power button and release the Power button to start the phone.  Do not hold it or double tap the power button.
  2. 2.      You will quickly see a screen with Three Androids, a white background, and some text.  You can now let go of Home and Back
  3. 3.      Click on Trackball to begin the erasing.
  4. 4.      Hit Send to reset the device

  4. 4.      Press the volume buttons to move the highlight bar on the screen to the Factory reset option.
  5. 5.      Press the Camera button to start the reset process.
  6. 6.      Wait for the device to reboot.

  3. 3.      Then press the Menu key to do the wipe of the phone (It will show the phone coming out of the box)

 

With the Android v1.5 Software, the button hard reset is:

 

  1. 1.      Turn device off.
  2. 2.      Press and hold 3 buttons together: volume down + Call + end buttons.  Keep holding until you see the logo/icon of a cell phone device coming out of the box.
  3. 3.      Then release all buttons and click on the OK button when the device prompts you and device will reset.

 

**Hard reset removes all installed applications and data stored in your device and resets all settings back to factory preconfigured settings. It does not reset the selected language.

Samsung Galaxy S Captivate (i896)

Voicemail Touch Applications > Settings > Call Settings > Voicemail > Touch Voicemail > Touch the Voicemail number field, backspace to erase the number stored, and enter a new voicemail number using the keypad, then touch OK > Touch OK.

Wi-Fi Enable Wi-Fi:

 

  1. 1.      Touch Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Wi-Fi Settings.
  2. 2.      Tap the Wi-Fi field to activate the feature. A green checkmark indicates that Wi-Fi is active. The device will scan for available in-range wireless networks and display them under Wi-Fi networks on the same screen.

 

Connect to a Wi-Fi Network:

 

  1. 1.      Touch Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Wi-Fi Settings. The network names and security settings (Open network or Secured with WEP) of detected Wi-Fi networks are displayed in the Wi-Fi networks section.
  2. 2.      Touch the network you want to connect to.
Restore to Factory Default Settings Menu Path from Touch Screen:

 

  1. 1.      From the Home screen, touch Applications > Settings > Privacy.
  2. 2.      Touch Factory Data Reset, enter your password, then select Yes to confirm. The phone resets to the factory default settings automatically and when finished displays the Home screen.

 

Hard Reset Button Combination #1:

 

  1. 1.      Turn the device off, or if the device is frozen remove the battery and put it back again.
  2. 2.      Simultaneously, hold the volume down button and press the power button.
  3. 3.      Menu will pop-out containing the options: Reboot, Re-install packages, Delete all user data , Delete cache data
  4. 4.      Select Delete all user data by pressing the Volume Down button.
  5. 5.      Then press and release the power button to select.
  6. 6.      Confirm your decision, to choose YES press Volume Up button
  7. 7.      Select reboot using the Volume Button and press power to select. Device will reboot and reset complete

 

Hard reset button combination #2:

 

  1. 1.      While the device is on, press and hold BOTH volume buttons, then press and hold the power button.
  2. 2.      When the I896 screen comes up, release the buttons and then hold down both volume controls again.
  3. 3.      Keep holding until the reset screen comes up. This can take a while.
  4. 4.      Proceed with reset as per normal from this point

Samsung Galaxy S Infuse 4G

  • Network SSID: the ID number that identifies your wireless network.
  • Security: select Open or WPA2 PSK.
  • Password: allows you to set a password for credential storage.
  • Hide my device: tap to create a checkmark if you want your device hidden.
